How to identify the right healthy habit for you
Build this habit first
Overwhelmed by the multiple wellness goal you want to accomplish in 2019? Take a step back and narrow your focus to set yourself up for success. Identify which goals truly matter to you using these 3 steps:
1) Write down what your dream wellness routine looks like. For example: “weight train three times a week, run outside in the park once a week before work, and meditate once a week.”
2) Rank the components of your dream routine. The dream wellness routine you described above is a series of wellness habits. Rank those habits in order of which ones you’d like to incorporate into your lifestyle the most. If it’s tricky to identify which goals and activities are most important to you, imagine you had 100 coins to distribute among everything you listed. The more coins you give a habit, the more important that goal is to you. No two items can have the same amount of coins.
3) Focus only on building the component of your dream wellness routine you ranked first in question 2. Everything that isn’t circled is a distraction - it’s holding you back from achieving what’s most important. Once you are doing it consistently, move onto the item you ranked second, then third, fourth, etc..
Focusing on one thing ensures you won’t be overwhelmed. It’s a sustainable approach. You’ll end 2019 proud of yourself.
